About this painting…

The pomegranate has long been a symbol of life, fertility, and abundance. Its countless seeds represent growth and renewal, celebrated in myths and traditions across the world. But somehow, humanity found a way to twist this symbol of creation into one of destruction.
The grenade—named after the pomegranate (pomme grenade in French) and shaped like it—turns the fruit’s meaning on its head. Where the pomegranate’s seeds bring nourishment and hope, the grenade’s “seeds” are fragments of metal, designed to wound and k1ll several people at once. What was once a symbol of life is now tied to death.
This transformation speaks to a deeper truth about humanity: our ability to take something good and turn it into something harmful. The grenade is a dark mirror of the pomegranate, showing how far we can stray from creation toward destruction. It’s a reminder of how easily we can corrupt even the most beautiful symbols when we lose sight of their meaning.
